What is Jawline Enhancement?
There are various ways to improve jawlines. Each patient has different goals and needs. Often a combination of invasive and non-invasive techniques are needed to achieve optimal results.
Careful placement of filler can give a sharper appearance along the mandible. Botox injections into the masseter can narrow and soften a stronger more square jawline. Botox and Filler injections or implants to the chin can increase projection and elongate the jawline. Finally, removal of excess fat under the neck with liposuction (Submental Liposuction) can sharpen the cervical angle.
What is Submental Liposuction?
Unlike a full neck lift, this procedure is less invasive and can be done under local anesthesia or light sedation. Small port incisions are used to suction fat superficially under the chin in about 30 minutes. A neck wrap is encouraged for the first one to two weeks after the procedure.
Overall pain and downtime are very manageable, and the fat that is removed does not return. Healthy diet and exercise are always recommended to prevent new fat from accumulating in the area. This is not an optimal solution for someone who has more significant neck laxity. For those patients, a neckllift is usually discussed.
What is Chin Augmentation?
This procedure is often used to increase the projection of the chin away from the face. This can be done either non-surgically with dermal fillers or surgically with a chin implant. The position of the chin is often overlooked, but it can dramatically affect the harmony of the face.
It is important to take it into consideration during a rhinoplasty or facelift consultation because it can improve the contour of the face and jowl as well as give the illusion of a smaller nose, improving the outcome of a rhinoplasty.
